Pagani Huayra
Koenigsegg Regera Ghost
Round One
On the Numbers
Devon's Take
The Huayra is what happens when one Argentinian obsessive carves the road car as sculpture. AMG twin-turbo V12, active aero flaps, every screw chosen for what it adds visually. The Regera Ghost is what happens when a Swedish engineer decides the gearbox itself is the problem and removes it. Direct-drive, 1,500 hp, silence broken only by tire noise. The Huayra makes you want to leave the garage door open just to look at it. The Ghost makes you wonder if the rest of the industry has been wrong about how a hypercar should work. Both answers are correct.
The Verdict
Four Categories
Track
Koenigsegg Regera Ghost
Direct-drive electric assist eliminates shift losses entirely. 780 more horsepower than the Huayra, instant torque, and a chassis that doesn't apologize for the extra mass.
Drag
Koenigsegg Regera Ghost
1,500 hp with no gearbox interruption versus 720 hp through a 7-speed automated manual. There is no version of this fight where the Huayra wins past 30 mph.
Daily
Pagani Huayra
AMG-sourced V12 means a service network that actually exists. The Ghost's powertrain is a one-of-one engineering exercise; good luck finding parts in Tulsa.
Status
Pagani Huayra
Horacio Pagani built fewer than 100 of the original Huayra. It is sculpture that drives. The Regera is a brilliant machine; the Huayra is a brilliant artifact.
